HYSTEROSCOPY
Hysteroscopy is the procedure where the scope is passed into the uterus and the cervix and the Endometrium is examined with a thin scope called the HYSTEROSCOPY to which a camera and light source are attached. The image is viewed in the monitor to which the camera transmits the images.
It is usually performed under mild anaesthesia, IV sedation and hardly it takes 5 to 10 minutes.
It can be used both for Diagnostic and Therapeutic indications.INDICATION
- Abnormal uterine bleeding
- Remove adhesions involves the uterus caused by previous infection or post- surgery.
- To locate a lost intrauterine contraceptive device (IUD)
- Take tissue or endometrial biopsy
- To diagnose recurrent Pregnancy loss
- To excise Endometrial polyps
- To excise Intrauterine septum to facilitate pregnancy.
